Returning clients are the jewel in the crown of our work

‘We regularly get calls from people who sold a house through Broersma in the past. We’re the first ones they call when they decide to move again,’ says Ellen with a huge smile on her face. ‘I can usually put them through to the same estate agent, as our staff tend to stay here.’

As the first contact person at Broersma, Ellen likes to anticipate the client’s needs. She used to work in the hospitality sector and enjoys using the knowledge and experience she acquired in her day-to-day work in our Vondelpark office. It’s her job to welcome people, take care of them, and assist them during the process. ‘Broersma goes the extra mile for its clients. You see it in the smallest details, and I enjoy being part of that.’

Ellen has given her heart to Amsterdam. She lives outside the city but often spends her weekends here. ‘We go to the market in the De Pijp or Jordaan neighbourhoods and have a bite to eat in one of the bars. In the summer, we take the ferry from Central Station. I love the industrial feel of Amsterdam Noord and the relaxed atmosphere on the beach at Pllek,’ she explains.

Ellen doesn’t have one favourite area; she has four. Amsterdam Zuid, Oost, Oud-West and Noord. The thing they have in common is the architecture. ‘I just love the old, elegant residences with their high ceilings and classic ornaments. But I’m also a fan of the enormous, rough warehouses, like the ones in Noord.’

She does, however, have a favourite spot in Amsterdam. Huis Marseille, the photography museum on Keizersgracht, where she regularly visits exhibitions. ‘The contrast between this monumental canal-side building and the contemporary art inside just blows me away. It transports me to another world.’
